Plymouth Argyle manager Wayne Rooney has appointed Mike Phelan as his assistant manager. After Pete Shuttleworth left the club for personal reasons.
Phelan has previously been assistant manager at Manchester United on two occasions and work with Rooney during Sir Alex Ferguson’s time at Old Trafford. The
pair are now reunited at Home Park with Plymouth in the Championship after Shuttleworth left the club for personal reasons.
“I am sorry to see Pete leave the http://ufabet999.app club,” Rooney said in a club statement. “He is someone I have worked closely with throughout my managerial career. Having first met at Derby County and he is a close friend of mine. “Pete
has had some personal matters to attend to and that is something. He has to prioritise and we have all respected that and have mutually decided to part ways.”
Phelan’s appointment comes after a difficult run of form for Argyle, who have won just one of their last nine matches.
They have conceded 10 goals in their last two games – a 6-1 loss at Norwich City and 4-0 defeat at Bristol City.
Speaking on Phelan’s arrival, he added: “Mike is someone I know very well. Having worked with him when I was a Manchester United player, he has a wealth of experience at the highest level of football,” he said.
“I am delighted to be bringing him to Argyle and look forward to working with him straight away.”
